Jenny Bernal de Baker, LCSW-C, MA is a dedicated therapist who enjoys working through a bilingual (English/Spanish) and multicultural lens, while also utilizing a strength-based approach that puts the client at the center of the therapy process. Jenny earned a Masters in Clinical Social Work from the Boston College School of Social Work in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and has worked in a variety of settings including medical and outpatient mental health clinics, home-based therapy, and private practice.
While Jenny has access to various modalities (ways of “doing” therapy) in her work, she prioritizes working from an Attachment Theory and systems approach. A systems perspective points to the fact that individuals are part of “environments” such as families, workplaces, schools, communities, etc. and that these environments can often have a profound effect on one's daily living. Jenny utilizes Bowen Family Systems as the primary modality for therapeutic work.
Jenny is also dedicated to the therapeutic process by focusing on the development and establishment of a strong therapeutic rapport based on compassion and curiosity. Jenny works with late adolescents (17-24), young adults, adults, couples and families. Her areas of interest and expertise include anxiety, depression, prepartum and postpartum anxiety/depression, PTSD, codependency, generational family trauma, first generation college student adjustment, acculturation, executive functioning challenges, parenting concerns, intentional parent coaching, navigating authentic friendship and relationships, vocational discernment, intentional marriage preparation, infertility and subfertility challenges, and life changes (first time parents, first time mom, career changes, etc.).
Jenny can also provide therapy through a Christian perspective for individuals who desire to integrate their faith into the therapy process. Outside of therapy work, Jenny enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and caring for her home and family. Jenny is married to an incredible Red Sox loving, New Englander man's man, and together they have four happy, loud, and joy-filled children.
