Frequently Asked Questions and Insurance

Can I use my insurance to pay for therapy services?

Jenny does not participate as an in-network therapist for insurance companies. However, as a licensed mental health professional, all services provided may be reimbursable by insurance plans on an out-of-network basis. The amount of reimbursement varies from plan to plan, and it is suggested that you contact your insurance company to determine benefits. A receipt with the necessary insurance information will be provided and may be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Some possible questions to ask your Health Insurance Provider to determine reimbursement for services are:

  • Do I have benefits that cover mental health services?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • Is there a set number of sessions per quarter/year that my insurance plan will cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician for mental health/therapy services?

How much should I expect to invest financially per each 45-50 minute therapy session?

The cost of services vary depending on how many participants are engaging in therapy (individual versus couples and/or family therapy) and the service method. Please reach out to obtain the cost of service for your specific need.

Seeking Hope Therapy aims to work with individuals dedicated and committed to the therapeutic process. If the cost of services becomes a barrier to obtaining therapy, please reach out to discuss your situation.

How long is each therapy session?

Individual therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long. Couples and family therapy sessions are typically 90-110 minutes long. Individuals are charged a full hour to ensure time for documentation and paperwork on the therapist's part.

How do you provide therapy?

Please see the Service Methods section.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. As a licensed clinical social worker, Jenny does not prescribe any medication. Psychotropic medication is prescribed by Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. Jenny is familiar with medications but recommendations and guidance for medication is not provided.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is a fundamental principle in therapy that ensures the privacy and protection of the client’s information. Confidentiality is essential for building trust and fostering a safe therapeutic environment. Jenny adheres firmly to the highest standards of confidentiality and will never discuss any work conducted through Seeking Hope Therapy.

Furthermore, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychotherapist. With that being said, there are a number of exceptions to this rule. By law, the therapist is required to report:

  • Threats of harm to oneself
  • Threats of harm to other
  • Suspected child or elder abuse – if the client is the victim or perpetrator

Do I need to commit to therapy for a specific amount of time?

It is highly encouraged that individuals commit to therapy services on a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks minimum, to begin) basis for a minimum of 6-9 months. Meeting less than this time frame significantly affects positive outcomes for the healing and therapeutic process. The individual's ability to commit to therapy will be discussed during the initial 15 minute discovery call.

Please feel free to bring up any questions you may have regarding therapy and the services provided by Seeking Hope Therapy.
